How to apply the same effect to many clips at once

The good news is that you can do it with one sweeping stroke, instead of one by one!

Let's say you have defined a sepia tone that you like, on one of your clips, using the "monotone" effects filter, and you now want to apply that same filter to a whole section of your video.

Make a "User Preset" from the filter that you have defined. With the clip that you have been working on, selected on the timeline, rightclick on the filter in the Information pallet, and choose "Save as a Current User Preset" and give it a name.

Note where that preset ends up in the "Effects Palett".

Now select the group of clips that you want to effect with a "lasso", (left-click and hold down, while dragging your mouse around the group of clips you want to select) or if they are sprinkled through your timeline by clicking on them with the Ctrl key pressed. Once you have all of the clips that you want to effect selected (or highlighted), drag your new customized effect on to any one of the selected clips and your done! All of your selected clips will now be sepia tone!

Note: If you still had your original clip selected, that one clip will now have two effects on it and you will want to delete one.

This same principle works for transitions and audio effects. Want to apply a pan-pot to all of your audio? Define the panpot you need and use the same procedure. Want to throw a dissolve transition on all of your clips at once? "Have at it!"
