Why is Edius SO SLOW?

Every time I capture or import new media, I seem to have to wait FOREVER while the MS wheel spins and spins!

This behavior is not Edius, but usually a result of a virus protection program running in the background that is carefully examining each file you have called up for viruses, before releasing them to Edius for use. I recommend keeping your editing computer off the Internet as much as possible, and suspending or shutting off virus protection while editing. If your virus software does not allow you to temporarily turn it off, and is causing this kind of interference, dump it for one that does!
