Why does the waveform generator take so long?
Why does the wave form generator take so long? I selected a 3 second section from a clip and when I dropped it on the time line and it took a good 30 seconds to make a wave form! This is nuts! I don't have time for this!

The first time that you use a selection from a clip Edius generates a wave form (If you have wave forms turned on in the target audio track) for the WHOLE clip, not just the 3 seconds that you may have selected. If the particular clip that you chose is a very long clip, it may take a while to generate the wave form. The good news is that once it is done, it will not have to do it for any further selections that you make from that clip as Edius saves the wave form and uses it again. Do it once and your done!
If you want to eliminate some of this frustration, a little trick that you can do, is generate all of your waveforms at once, while taking a coffee break.
After you have finished capturing or importing all of your media, simply select all the clips in your bin window (Ctrl/A), and drag them to the timeline. If you have your Wave form indicator turned on, this will set the process going. Come back after your break, select all of the clips on your timeline (Ctrl/A), and hit the delete key to remove them. Now, there is no more waiting! One thing to note here is that Edius will only generate a wave form for the clips that are actually displayed in your timeline window. Make sure that your timeline window is contracted to max possible. Using the slider bar in the top left hand corner of the timeline, slide it to the extreme right, so that all of the clips that you place on the time line are visible.
